Thundercats Helmer Hired Warner Brothers has hired video-game art director Jerry O'Flaherty to helm the upcoming computer-animated Thundercats movie, based on the popular '80s cartoon series, comic book and toy line, Variety reported. It marks the feature-film-directing debut for O'Flaherty, who served as an art director on such best-selling games as Gears of War and for Epic Games and the Command and Conquer series from Westwood Studios. O'Flaherty had been looking to make the leap into movies and was considering several projects, even live action. O'Flaherty will work with writer Paul Sopocy on the script. The franchise revolves around a group of humanoid cats who must flee the planet of Thundera, which is destroyed.
