Network Woes I love working at the local university library, I really do. . ._except_ during weeks like this.
For the past three days (three!) the network connection at the three reference desk computers has cut out about every ten minutes from noon until nearly four. This means, in effect, that I cannot save documents, use the internet, get my e-mail, print documents, work diligently on special projects, or really assist patrons while the network reasserts itself. . .and I am supremely annoyed.
The tech gang is baffled and getting just as annoyed. Our library systems admin called in campus IT and they spent over two hours attempting to locate the problem--with no luck. This is only affecting the reference desk computers, thank Heaven, but I have two projects that sort of need uninterrupted access to the campus network, projects I would like to start and continue (respectively).
Tech is useful, but sometimes, nothing beats good old graphite and paper!
