Merry Christmas to You... part 6
Merry Christmas To You…part 6 Slowly she opened her eyes then quickly shut them against the bright morning light streaming in her window. Loudly Az groaned, not only from the pain throbbing through her head but from the knowledge the she just knew she was going to get a lecture from Lion-o about sleeping in past first light. Part of her just wanted to slide back under the covers and sleep the day away, but another part told her it was best to just get it done and over with. Sitting up, she fought a bought of nausea and was grateful to see one of Snarf’s special powders on her night stand with a glass. She mixed the powder into the water and gulped it down quick, hoping not to taste the contents as that would be too much for her weak stomach. Once that was done, Az stepped into her bathroom and took a shower to wake her up and let the powder work its magic. When she finished her shower, she felt much better, her headache and sensitivity to light quickly fading. Then it hit her what today was and she sighed sadly. Unconsciously she moved to her window and looked out. The view outside put a smile on her face as the land was covered in a blanket of snow. What was strange was that weather reports had stated that snow wouldn’t be possible until after the new year so this event was a pleasant surprise. “Merry Christmas Linda.” Az said to herself as she moved away from the window and towards the door. As she passed her bed, she noticed a small card that hadn’t been there when she had woken up. Curious, she picked it up and saw a beautiful delicate looking snowflake embossed on the front of the card. Opening it up she saw four simple lines inside. On this day of Snow I’m wrapped up with a bow. Come and find me Under the Mistletoe. “Under the Mistletoe?” she thought. “What the hell?” She looked up to see if there was a sprig of mistletoe on her door and was both relieved and let down to see that there wasn’t. “Get a grip Az!” she chided herself. “Most likely Wilykat is playing a trick on you again.” But the card had made her wonder so she headed out the door and stopped short to see a ribbon of red going from her doorway down the hall. She laughed then shrugged and followed the ribbon down the hall, down two flights of stairs and towards the downstairs library. At first she saw nothing then she looked up and saw hanging from the library door a sprig of mistletoe wrapped with a small red ribbon. Beneath the mistletoe on the ground was a small green box with a red ribbon around it. Slowly she bent down and picked up the box and spied her name on a tiny tag extending out from underneath the bow on top. For Az to find cheer I brought you down here Christmas we’ll always remember Each and every year. Az had tears in her eyes as she read the tag once again. Then she did the only expected thing to do; she ripped off the paper and opened up the box then gasped in surprise. Inside was a necklace with two silver hearts connected to a gold one in the middle. The silver heart on the left had tiny sapphires on its edge, the one on the right had topaz while the gold heart in the middle hosted tiny perfect diamonds on its rim. So shocked and over come with emotion, Az never noticed the figure behind her until he called out to her. “Merry Christmas baby.” Az whirled around to thank Tygra properly when her eyes widened in horror and she screamed, dropping the necklace and backing away quickly. “I knew I was dreaming!!!” she shouted, “The Tygra Grinch is back to get me!!!” Tygra, in his red Santa suit, stopped to stare at her then began laughing so hard that he nearly dropped down to his knees. “I heard about that dream of your and have to say that I wasn’t all that flattered that you thought of me that way.” Then he scooped down and picked the necklace up then walked to her and held it out for her too see. “Three hearts. One for me,” he said pointing to the silver/topaz heart then moved to the silver/sapphire one, “One for Greg, and for you to connect both of us in your love.” Unclasping the necklace, he moved behind her and draped the delicate piece of jewelry around her neck, clasping it in the back. “I know that you still love Greg and I would never want you to stop, just as I know you love me as much. Now, you can keep all of us together close to your heart and know that two very special men loved you and will always love you.” The human woman turned around, tears glistening on her cheek as she leaned up to put her arms around the tiger’s neck. “Thank you for making this a wonderful Christmas for me.” Then she reached up and placed a kiss upon his lips. Though she just wanted it to be something quick yet sweet, Tygra had other plans. He wrapped his arms around her middle and hauled her up against his chest, searing her with his tongue and lips, making her breathless with his passion before letting her pull back. Her eyes gazed at him with love before looking above his head and laughing. “How appropriate.” She said, pointing up to the mistletoe. Tygra looked up and grinned himself. “So that’s why they put that bit of plant on the door jams. I have to say I quite approve.” Az wanted nothing more then to stay in his arms, but she knew she had an irate lord to face. “Babe, I love you for this, but I have to get going. I know Lion-o is around here somewhere and he’s just itching to give me his ever famous, ever boring, ‘A Thundercat must be reliable and trustworthy’ speech so I better go find him and get it over with.” She tried to move off but Tygra wouldn’t let her. “Actually, I do have another present for you, but I have to blindfold you first.” One eyebrow rose up in amusement. “Blindfold? Babe, you getting kinky on me now? It’s about time!” “Later.” Tygra laughed as he produced a white cloth from his pocket and placed it over her eyes, tying it firmly in the back and clasped her hand in his own as he led her into the foyer. Before removing the blindfold, he leaned down and kissed her gently on the cheek and whispered in her ear. “Merry Christmas Az, from all of us.” The cloth dropped away from her eyes and she just stood there in shock as she saw boughs of fresh evergreen decking the halls, red ribbons tying them together in a beautiful display of red and green. In the middle of the room was a gigantic blue spruce tree with colored glass balls of gold, silver, red, blue, and green all glinting with the light of a hundred or more candles held on the branches. Beneath the tree were dozens of presents wrapped in festive paper with shiny bows beckoning greedy hands to rip them apart to discover the treasures within. And there, standing in front of the tree in a picture perfect moment were all of her friends with either Christmas hats, garland boas, elf ears, or ornament jewelry adorning them. Together in one voice they shouted, “Merry Christmas Az!!!” The poor protectorate felt tears threatening to fall again as she took everything in. Tygra placed his hands on her shoulder to urge her in as he knew she might stand there forever just enjoying the sight of it all. “How…what… why…” But Az had no words to express the joy she felt in her heart. “Actually, Tara did most of the work. She learned about Christmas and got all of us involved.” said Lion-o, then he looked down sheepishly. “But we have to admit that we’d have never known about it if you hadn’t sent that one diary entry.” The human’s cheeks heated up considerable. “Ahh, so that’s what happened to it.” Then she looked behind her at her merrily dressed love. “And that’s how you knew what I was talking about with the Grinch thing.” “Guilty.” Tygra grinned at her. Az laughed then turned back to her friends. “Well it’s a good thing only that one got out. I’d hate to think what you all would think about the rest of my diary.” Nervous looks passed between Taz, Panthro, and Lea, but Tara just kept smiling as if she were guilty of nothing. Fortunately Az saw none of this as she rushed forward to hug Tara. “Thank you so much for this. I don’t know how I will ever repay you.” “Everyone needs their own traditions honey.” The hybrid said, returning the hug . “I just thought it was long over due to share one of yours.” “Oh by the way, I met a friend of yours. A gent by the name of Kris Kringle asked me to say hello for him.” Az stared at the hybrid. “You’re kidding, right?” Tara shook her head. “No, I’m serious. He’s a round little man with the whi-*test*-('") beard and the cu-*test*-('") red cheeks I have ever seen.” The human’s look of disbelief made the hybrid uneasy. “Tara, are you trying to tell me that you met Santa?” “No, not at all. I told you that I met a man named Kris Kringle. In fact, if it wasn’t for him, I’d have never gotten everything ready for today. He’s a real miracle worker. And his reindeer were just so cute!” “Um, Tara, Kris Kringle is Santa Claus. It’s one of the many names my people gave him.” Now it was Tara’s turn to look shocked. “I met Santa?” “Looks like.” “Oh damn! I never got to ask him if he could get me that lovely new dress I saw in the shop the other day. Why didn’t anyone tell me?!” Az could only laugh and shrug. The laughter soon died when someone new entered the room. “Oh look at this, a party and we weren’t invited? For shame.” Everyone turned towards the owner of this new voice and were both shocked and dismayed to see Sinistral and his gang of evil friends. “What do you want?” Lion-o demanded at the same time that Tara rushed forward. “Please, Sin, don’t ruin this!” she pleaded. Sin laughed, his wife joining. “Don’t worry cats, I’m not here to cause any mayhem.” “You promise?” Tara asked. “Cross my heart.” he promised. “Humph! You don’t have a heart.” Panthro said under his breath, but the dark overlord heard him clearly. “Very well baldy.” He beckoned to a small Lunatack child who greatly resembled him and placed a hand upon her head. “I swear, on the head of my child Nell, upon her very soul even, that on this ancient day of peace neither I nor any in my entourage will create any evil doings as long as the sun is in the sky.” He glared at his minions and even at his wife to let them all know that his word was law and that any to -*test*-('") him would be dealt great pain and hardship. He then turned back to the Thundercats with a grin on his face. “After sunset though, all bets will be off.” “So, is it a deal?” he asked, holding his hand out. Lion-o regarded him for a moment then took the proffered hand. “Very well, in the name of peace I welcome you to Cat’s Lair to join in on this celebration.” “And now if you will allow me,” Sin said with a grin as he snapped his fingers, bringing forth a multitude of new presents, “we’ve brought some gifts to help celebrate this most miserable Anti-Satan-mas.” “You mean ‘Merry Christmas’.” Lion-o corrected him. “Po-tae-toes, po-tah-toes, whatever.” Sin said as he, his wife, and little Nell walked forward to greet the others. As Tygra, dressed as Santa, began passing out the presents and the smells of roasted turkey drifted from the kitchen, Lion-o gazed around at the mix of good and evil getting along and just shook his head. Though they might be enemies most of the time, it was nice to have at least one day where there could be peace on Earth and good will towards all men. The End. Thanks everyone for letting me use some of your characters in this story. I know I didn’t use everyone’s OC but I wasn’t sure how you include all of you and still maintain a great story. Hopefully I will do much better next time. Anyhoo, I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a great New Year.
